Woodfern Psychotherapy—Chicago IL

Maybe you've been pushing through for a long time, managing anxiety, navigating a major life change, or carrying the weight of experiences you've never fully had space to process. Maybe something feels off in a way that's hard to name, and you're ready to finally look at it.

This is a space for that.

I'm Denton Woodfern, a licensed clinical social worker in Chicago. I offer therapy for adults who are ready to go beyond just coping, people who want to understand themselves more deeply, reconnect with what matters to them, and build a life that feels genuinely their own.

You don’t have to keep carrying this alone

What brings people here

You might be

  • Navigating trauma or its long shadow on your daily life

  • Going through a significant life transition and feeling unmoored

  • Exploring your identity and wanting space to do that with care and without judgment

  • Exhausted from fighting your own thoughts and emotions

  • Feeling the weight of political and social uncertainty

  • Longing for something more — more meaning, more clarity, more connection to yourself

Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you're looking.

A different kind of therapy

My approach

My work is trauma-informed and relational, drawing on Parts Work, depth work, somatic practices, ACT, and other evidence-based practices, and informed by Buddhist psychology and mindfulness.

This isn't therapy where you just talk about your problems week after week. It's a collaborative process — one that honors your inner wisdom, builds skill and flexibility with difficult emotions, and helps you reconnect with your values and sense of self.

Affirming, Inclusive Care

Who I Work With

I work with adults navigating trauma, life transitions, and identity — including members of the LGBTQ+ community, people exploring their gender or sexuality, individuals on the autism spectrum and those who haven't always felt welcome or truly seen in traditional therapy spaces.

My practice is affirming, intersectional, and genuinely inclusive.
